Sarmad Hussain is affiliated with ICANN’s Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) and Universal Acceptance (UA) Program. Prior to this, he served as a professor of Computer Science in Pakistan, where he concentrated his research on linguistics, localization, speech processing, and computational linguistics. For his work on developing language technology for languages spoken in developing Asia, Hussain held the prestigious IDRC Chair in Multilingual Computing.

Before joining ICANN, Hussain was an active member of the ICANN community and served on ICANN’s Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC). His contributions to the field of linguistics and computer science have had a significant impact on both academia and the broader internet community.
